Relevant Training Session: Safety rules for use of skip, LOLER, Dangers to public, Operation of hydraulics controls, Security of load when lifting/lowering, Avoidance of shock loading, security of skip on vehicle, Inspection prior to road travel.
Learning Outcome: This unit is designed to confirm that the candidate is able to safely lift and transport skips of varying sizes and weights within the capability of the specific machine in use, whilst using the machine’s controls with sympathy and care. It ensures that the candidate is able to work safely in the company of others and is aware of the impact that his/her operations will have on others. It ensures that the candidate is able to monitor the equipment to maintain safety throughout the activity and that he/she is able to carry out the operation safely.
Assessment: Trainees will be encouraged to build their skills by guided practice, culminating in a formal practical assessment, together with a knowledge questionnaire.
